What is multi-factor authentication (MFA)?
Answer
When you sign into online accounts you are proving to that service that you are who you say you are (a process called authentication). Traditionally, that has been done with a username and a password but with multi-factor authentication (or two-step verification), you are asked to provide at least two factors to support your identity:
- something you know (e.g., password)
- something you have (e.g., smart phone)
- and/or something you are (e.g., fingerprint)
Two-step verification helps to keep your Keyano account secure and the College supports multi-factor authentication. This means you will have to provide a second form of verification when accessing Keyano resources (e.g., Keyano Mail, Moodle).
